World Mental Health Day
Friday, 10 October 2008
World Mental Health Day was observed for the first time on 10 October 1992. It was started as an annual activity of the World Federation for Mental Health and is officially commemorated every year on 10 October. At the beginning, the day had no specific theme. Its aims were the general ones of promoting mental health advocacy and educating the public on relevant issues. In 1994, a theme for the day was used for the first time.
The theme for 2008 is Making Mental Health a Global Priority: Scaling Up Services through Citizen Advocacy and Action.
