International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by UNESCO to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

Languages are a powerful way of preserving and developing our heritage.

Activities during the event aim to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education, develop greater awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.
